According to Sri SM Krishna, Minister of External Affairs, the vision behind the new PSKs is, "To deliver passport services to citizens in a timely, transparent, more accessible, reliable manner and in a comfortable environment through streamlined processes and committed, trained and motivated workforce". 77 PSKs have opened in the country so far.

When you go to submmit the passport application form you have to submmit all other important documents alongwith. Address proof is required for a fresh passport. It can be your ration card; certificate from Employer of reputed companies on letter head; water, telephone or electricity bill; statement of running bank account, Income Tax Assessment Order, Election Commission ID card, spouse's passport copy and parent's passport copy in case of minors. Locate your nearest PSK by feeding in your city or pin code of your city

Create a user ID and assign a password

Fill and submit the application form online (one can also scan and upload relevant supporting documents)

Or download the e-form and fill and upload the same at the website.

Note of the Application Reference Number (ARN)

Schedule an appointment and take printout of appointment slip.

Applicants will then have to visit the designated passport seva kendra.

This online application system will save a lot of time and energy. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) staff will man the front office stations and collect biometric data of applicants queued up on the basis of a token system. The passport officials will verify the applicants’ credentials by checking the veracity of documents and collect fees. Provided that the documents stipulated are in order and the case is free of complications, it should take an applicant only 45 minutes to complete the application procedure. Sources at the PSK have clarified that “The system has been automated in such a way that an application automatically goes to print as soon as the police clear it for issue. Unlike in the past, they are not required to manually hand it over to us. Rather, they can now upload the police verification report (PVR) into the integrated network. The process is still easier in the case of minors, government officials and those already having a passport — as they don’t require the PVR.”
